Vote for DA Candidate, Wollaston Labuschagne, for Ward 88
Ward Candidate Profile
Name: Wollaston Labuschagne
Ward: Ward 88, Ekurhuleni
My name is Wollaston Labuschagne, and I am the Democratic Alliance Ward 88 Candidate in Nigel, Ekurhuleni.
I am standing as a Ward Councillor because I have the necessary knowledge and experience to improve service delivery in my ward. I also believe that all residents that should receive the best possible services and no community should be neglected.
During the current political term, I have uncovered the following issues:
- Numerous municipal flats are vacant because the ANC and its coalition partners do not care about the homeless.
- ANC cadres have allowed an individual to start farming activities around the Nigel Dam without the required processes to be followed.
- Two appointed contractors for infrastructure projects were paid between R1mil & R3mil without completing projects they were appointed on.
During the next term, I plan on driving the following pressing issues:
- The rehabilitation and fencing of Alra Park wetland A21F including area across Alra Park Clinic to be developed as a public park.
- Rehabilitation and reconstruction of the entire Nigel Stormwater Canal from the R42 through Nigel until it reaches the Blesbokspruit
- Completion of all maintenance and refurbishment work on the interior and exterior of the Nigel Town Hall specifically all required work to the roof, gutters, and downpipes
- Tarring of various unsurfaced roads in Alra Park and Mackenzieville: Spruit, Bontebok, Ribbok , Gamka , Chuni , Vaal , Blesbok , Bluevalley , Rietbok , Duzi , Mngeni , Okavango , Molopo & Komati
- Rehabilitation and upgrade of John Vorster sports stadium
As a Ward Councillor, I have found that posting regular updates pertaining to service delivery matters on various social media platforms keep residents informed as the local newspapers neglect to convey municipal information. I will continue to use these methods to effectively engage with the community.
During the past five years I have gained a lot of experience and knowledge to serve as a second term ward councillor. I’ve built good relations with numerous officials, which will assist with improved service delivery.
