Name: Tracey Lourenco

Ward: Ward 104, Ekurhuleni

My name is Tracey Lourenco, and I am the Democratic Alliance Ward 104 Candidate in the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE). Ward 104 includes Esther Park, Kempton Park west, parts of Birch Acres, Van Riebeeck Park, Edleen and Terenure.

I am standing as a Ward Councillor because I believe in the DA’s policy for freedom, fairness, and opportunity. I believe that the Ward 104 community should have equal and fair opportunities, and this is not possible under the current government. A DA-run Ekurhuleni will ensure more transparency for job creation and projects in the ward.

As Ward Councillor, I will be driving the following issues:

• Stormwater Drains
• Streetlights
• Sewerage
• Illegal land use (Illegal backyard dwellings and tuck shops/Infrastructure/City planning issues)
• Drinking and noise pollution of parks
• Unacceptable standard of maintenance of parks and open spaces

One of the main issues in Ward 104 is the Norkem Park Pan. The CoE has remained silent and inactive about the Norkem Park Pan situation. As the DA, we have launched an official complaint to the South African Human Rights Commission on behalf of the residents. I will continue driving this pertinent issue because residents should not be living with sewer flooding in their gardens and houses.

I plan to continue engaging with the residents the ward through WhatsApp Groups, Facebook, and my availability on my mobile phone. I have good communication skills and my ability to be sympathetic and understanding to the needs of the residents allows me to effectively serve my community. I took on this position to make a difference and I am committed to running the ward in the interests of all those who live in it.
