Name: Ella Pieterse

Ward: Ward 13, Ekurhuleni

My name is Ella Pieterse, and I am the Democratic Alliance Ward 13 Candidate in the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE). Ward 13 includes parts of Birch Acres and Phomolong in Kempton Park.

I am standing in the 2021 Local Government Elections to demonstrate the real meaning of “change” through equal opportunity, fairness, diversity, and transparency. Most importantly, I want to bring the DA difference to the residence of Ward 13.

As a Kempton Park resident, I am familiar with the issues that plague the community and I want to represent the Ward 13 community and drive pertinent issues and IDP priorities for the Ward.

Should I be successful, I will be driving the following issues:

• The Birch Acres Park — the park is in dire need of maintenance, refurbishments, and security.
• Blocked stormwater drains throughout the Ward
• The lack of refuse removal in Phomolong
• Irregular refuse removal in Birch Acres
• Repairing potholes throughout the Ward
• Insufficient and faulty streetlights

My vision for Ward 13 is to understand residents’ needs and gain their confidence. I want to deliver high quality basic service delivery and maintain a clean, safe and friendly environment for the community.

During the past few months, I co-managed the Ward 13 WhatsApp Service Delivery Group, and this has helped me build close relationships with the residents. I plan to strengthen these relationships and continue to effectively engage with the community.

I have been the Chairperson for Solidariteit Helpende Hand in Kempton Park for the past 12 years, which provided food, clothes, and emotional assistance during the Covid-19 pandemic to the community through various projects.

I am a well organised individual with 16 years’ experience in Council matters. I have a passion for service delivery, and I live by high ethical standards, integrity, morals, and values.
