My name is Andre du Plessis and I am the Democratic Alliance Ward 23 Candidate in the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE).

I am standing as a Ward Councillor because I believe that the DA is the only Party that has the integrity and interest of all people in South Africa at heart. It has a proven track record of clean governance, adherence to the rule of law and a thereby a strong commitment to fighting fraud and corruption. The DA is the only Party that promotes freedom, fairness, diversity and opportunity for all.

If elected Councillor, I will be driving the upgrades of the failing sewerage infrastructure in Bonaero Park that is having a devastating impact on the wellbeing of the residents, destroying the values of their properties, as well as destroying the ecology of the wetlands in the area. I will also prioritise the annual control of alien invader species of aquatic reeds that are choking the free flow of water through the Atlasville stream. Finally, I will endeavour to get my Ward’s fair share of the budgets for the maintenance and upgrades of parks, roads, electrical and water infrastructure.

I engage with the community through service delivery Whatsapp, Telegram groups, and social media platforms, which I then escalate to the appropriate departments in the municipality.

Having been a ward councillor for 21-years, I have gained extensive experience of local governmental structures and functions together with good people skills. My leadership skills have been bolstered over this period, by having held numerous senior positions within the DA Caucus. I am fortunate enough to be bilingual, and am passionate about the sustainable protection and conservation of the environment.
