Date: 15 June 2021
Release: Immediate
Type: Media statement
The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Ekurhuleni would like to remind residents that the deadline to dispute a property in the Municipal Property Valuation Roll is this Friday the 18th of June 2021.
We have been in contact with the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) Officials regarding the 18 June 2021 deadline, as many residents have reported long queues at their Customer Care Centres (CCC), causing frustration and delays.
Following these discussions with City officials, the DA can confirm that all Customer Care Centres will remain open until 9pm on the 17th and 18th of June to accommodate the queues of people that still need to submit their objections against the new valuation roll.
We encourage all residents to check the valuation roll. Residents are reminded that all objections must be submitted physically. The objection forms are available here: https://www.ekurhuleni.gov.za/residents/forms/valuation-objection-forms.html
As the DA, we will continue to challenge the flawed process used by the ANC and its coalition administration. The entire property valuation roll process should be condemned in the strongest terms as it has been flawed from the onset.
The flawed valuation roll process is indicative of the governance failures of ANC and their coalition partners* in the City over the past five-years. The DA in Ekurhuleni will continue to stand by our communities and ensure that resident’s rights are upheld in ensuring fair value of property for residents and businesses in the Metro.
