Statement by Cllr. Khathutshelo Rasilingwane — DA Shadow MMC for Health & Social Development in Ekurhuleni
Date: 19 August 2021
Release: Immediate
Type: Media statement
The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Ekurhuleni welcomes the announcement by government to open up Covid-19 vaccinations for those aged between 18 and 35 on Friday the 20th of August.
With the vaccination rate slowing amongst older generations it has become critically important to vaccinate as many people as possible as quickly as possible in the fight against the pandemic.
The Covid-19 vaccine is the most effective weapon we have in the fight against the virus, which continues to wreak havoc on our communities following the recent devastating third wave of infections.
As such, the DA calls on those citizens within the 18–35 age category to visit their nearest vaccination site to receive their jab. No registration is required but one must bring their official identification document. In addition, the Party encourages all eligible people to not hesitate to get their vaccinations to protect yourselves and others.
Together we can beat this!
